WWE is going through multiple changes at the moment. The shift of power in management and the sale of the company played a vital role in the storylines of SmackDown and Raw. Introducing new championships to the main roster has been the latest development that the WWE administration has made.
WWE had separate World Championships for all the brands under the company. However, when Roman Reigns unified WWE and the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 38, Raw was left without a World Champion. Due to this, the World Heavyweight Championship was recently reintroduced by Triple H.
Sean Ross Sapp from Fightful Select has reported information about the same. He said that the multiple titles and the WWE Draft 2023 were causing confusion among people. Therefore, Roman Reigns was given a new title, unifying the existing two championships and introducing a new title.
The Raw Women’s Champion was drafted to SmackDown, while the SmackDown Women’s Champion was drafted to Raw. To avoid confusion, Asuka was given a new title on the latest episode of SmackDown. It will be addressed as the WWE Women’s Championship from now on. Similar adjustments are also expected to be made to Rhea Ripley’s Championship.
The new titles and name changes are causing confusion among the members of the company. A higher-up from the administration in WWE also noted that “that’s admittedly confusing. I don’t know why there is an insistence on doing that, and a lot of people have brought that up and it’s been dismissed.”
NXT can become the third brand in WWE
In recent years, NXT has gone through multiple transformations. NXT returned to being a developmental brand for up-and-coming wrestlers after being a favorite for hardcore fans for consistently excellent wrestling. Multiple stars like Adam Cole, Gunther, Karrion Kross, and Bron Breakker have found fame because of their performances in NXT.
During a recent interview, WWE CEO Nick Khan talked about the potential of the Yellow Brand. Khan believes that NXT has the capability to become the third standalone brand under WWE. This opens up the possibility of crossover storylines with the superstars jumping from NXT to Raw and SmackDown and vice versa.
Fans will be excited to see the black and gold brand return to its glory days from 2017-2018 and attain third-brand status. The idea is extremely intriguing, and many fantasy matchups can be turned into reality with the upgrade.
