The Philadelphia 76ers have endured one of the worst starts of the 2024-25 NBA season. They have not performed up to their standards. Despite having players like Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Paul George, they have remained poor this season. To add to their turmoil, someone leaked the news of their recent ‘private team meeting.’ Regarding this, former NBA player Charles Barkley was left unimpressed.
Barkley expressed his opinions on the leaked private meeting between the 76ers players and coaches in the most recent episode of Inside the NBA. Like Joel Embiid, he demanded that the “leaker” face some severe consequences. Despite Embiid and the team not being at their best, such kind of acts by the 76ers staff were uncalled for.
Additionally, Charles Barkley addressed Embiid personally regarding the ‘team meetings.’ Maxey criticized Embiid during the squad meeting and urged him to set a good example. Barkley clearly stated on the show that ‘Embiid cannot be late all the time.’ This was a message to the 76ers star to get himself back on track.
“You cannot be late all the time… Joel [Embiid] needs to own that.”

The terrible season started on the first day when both of their best players were benched. Despite their return, they still struggle on and off the court. This was seen by their dismal chemistry on the court and their poor record (3–13). It remains to be seen now how they change their tide throughout this season.
Former NBA player was highly critical of Joel Embiid on his podcast
Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers haven’t been doing well lately. The return of Embiid, the team’s franchise player, hasn’t helped them either. They currently lie near the bottom of the Eastern Conference. Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas sent a serious warning to Embiid and the Sixers regarding their performances.
“When you have a star that acts like [Joel Embiid], you can’t win.”

Joel Embiid hasn’t played well for the Sixers thus far. In just three games this season, he has averaged 14.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 4.0 assists. To maintain their prospects of making the playoffs and winning a championship, the squad will need him to step up. The Sixers have a lot to do if they are to achieve success this season.
