Jalin Turner vs. Max Holloway for International Fight Week

Lightweight fighter Jalin Turner brutally finished Bobby Green last December. Turner remembers the backlash following such a late stoppage. As such, it played a role in his UFC 300 bout against Renato Moicano. Turner failed to continue the onslaught on Moicano after knocking him down. Soon, Moicano used his wrestling and earned a TKO stoppage.

Turner recently appeared on the JAXXON Podcast, revealing what made him hold back in that fight. Jalin Turner spoke with Rampage Jackson about his mindset during the fight. During the discussion, Jackson brought up Turner’s fight with Moicano and the restraint he showed in that fight. Turner responded by stating he remembered the backlash he had received earlier.

I was already thinking about that, like the backlash I got from that… My conscience really kicked in the fight, like even before the fight, I didn’t, like, fully, like, get to that, ‘Oh, I gotta like kill this dude instinct.’ I was just like, it’s a fight. I’m just, ‘Go, do a like, you know, just go perform,’ and yeah, that’s what happened.

Jalin Turner vs. Bobby Green had one of the worst stoppages in recent memory. Referee Kerry Hatley faced significant scrutiny for controversially delaying intervention in the fight. Even UFC CEO Dana White described it as one of the worst stoppages he had ever seen.

This influenced Turner’s approach in his subsequent fight against Renato Moicano. There is a good chance that Turner would have won the fight via TKO if he continued to attack Moicano after the knockdown. Eventually, he lost, but the sequence became a good lesson for every MMA fighter. A fight is not over until it is over.

Amidst all this, co-host Bear D’Egidio brought up an interesting rumor that got ‘The Tarantula’ all excited. Reportedly, insiders in the UFC (hilariously) told the JAXXON Podcast that Max Holloway vs Jalin Turner could be a potential fight for International Fight Week. Turner had a hilarious reaction while replying.

I haven’t heard anything about that. Bro what?!… I’ll be hyped! I’m not gonna lie; I haven’t heard anything about that, and if I did hear something about that, I would have been in the gym.

It was a hilarious prank of sorts and not anything serious. Turner was on a five-fight consecutive winning streak, which stretched until UFC 285. This was when he lost the fight against Mateusz Gamrot via split decision. Since then, Turner has won only once, which came against Bobby Green.

Now, Turner boasts a professional record of 14 wins and eight losses and ranks #12 in the UFC’s lightweight rankings. If he takes on Max Holloway, he will contend for the ‘BMF’ title, which Holloway won at UFC 300. However, that will likely not happen.
