Paul Heyman reveals Brock Lesnar was done with WWE after WrestleMania 36

Paul Heyman is the ultimate advocate any wrestler can have beside him or her. Heyman has aligned with many stars like Rob Van Dam, Big Show, Kurt Angle, and many more throughout his career. But his quintessential pairing with Brock Lesnar has been considered the perfect wrestler-manager team.

While speaking on Tetragrammaton with Rick Rubin, Heyman spoke of Brock Lesnar’s departure from WWE after WrestleMania 36. Lesnar believed that his WWE career was supposed to end once he lost his WWE Championship. He elaborated further, saying that his contract ended in April 2020, but WWE didn’t offer him a renewal considering the rising pandemic issue.

WWE thought of not having such a highly-paid star in the company at that stage. They decided to offer Brock Lesnar a contract later, when they would need him the most. The executives thought hiring Lesnar wouldn’t make any sense, as they would lack a return on their investment in him. So, the Beast Incarnate went back to Saskatchewan. Lesnar assumed that it was the end of his time in WWE.

However, the WWE Universe saw him return at SummerSlam 2021, confronting Roman Reigns. The moment was again something special for Heyman, as he had his former client and recent client face off against each other. Over the next few months, The Wise Man had to choose his side to advocate for either of the stars, but he stayed loyal to The Tribal Chief.

Their feud in 2018 was for the Universal Championship, with their match being set for SummerSlam. The rivalry was progressing as we saw Lesnar beating his advocate, Paul Heyman. The next week saw a kayfabe segment between Heyman and Renee Young discussing the aftermath of that incident.

While speaking on Tetragrammaton with Rick Rubin, the 57-year-old stated that the interview had him crying for real as he wanted to do it passionately. He stated that he was wearing a coat that he wore at his father’s funeral to bring back the memories and help him cry legitimately. The segment showcased him crying over Lesnar’s beating and proving himself helpless over his firing.
