Ian Machado Garry has been on one hot streak in the UFC 170-pound division. Win after win, the rising star is quite the reckoning. However, his interpersonal relations had him in some deep waters. While on the rise, ‘The Future’ came under further scrutiny last year due to his wife Layla Anna-Lee. All thanks to martial arts content creator, ‘The MMA Guru’. Now, he has again wound down on his thoughts over Garry.
Last November, ‘The MMA Guru’ revealed that Layla Anna-Lee Machado had written a book about how women can become WAGs. The satirical piece was to be a dig at modern-day WAGs (i.e., wives and girlfriends) of sports celebrities. But it was taken to be that the 40-something-year-old wife of the UFC rising welterweight contender instigated women to be gold diggers. The distasteful commentary continues, with MMA Guru doubling down on her manipulation.

MMA community Twitter lost its mind when ‘The MMA Guru’ revealed that the couple lived with her ex-husband – Garry’s MMA nutritionist. Unhinged loud-mouth fighter Sean Strickland picked up on it and fanned the flames of the unchecked rumor. It also came to be that ‘Machado’ was her maiden name that the husbands have used over time (an Irish tradition of old). ‘Bad Guy’ Chael Sonnen first talked of it on his YouTube channel. However, the fanbase/accusers did not care.

Soon, Layla Anna-Lee had to double down on the details and even took the barbs to MMA Guru. However, the damage had been done. Now, ‘The MMA Guru’ goes into the distinct tall tale that Anna-Lee is shrewdly narrative over an IG reel of Garry coaxing her with flowers and singing. As weird as it all sounds, there are other victims here.
Chris Curtis became a victim, defending Ian Garry
Layla Anna-Lee’s 2010 satirical publication How to be a WAG garnered much flak for being the apparent guide to gold diggers. Strickland, Colby Covington, Kevin Holland, and obviously ‘The MMA Guru’ went on a pointless but relentless pursuit to prove that. Strickland even insinuated a victim status on Garry of celebrity ensnaring by his wife. While ‘Chaos’ had some colorful sexual innuendos for her during UFC 296 pay-per-view media day.

Layla, who had Harvard certification in contract law from five years prior, even threatened to sue for slander. While all this was on, Strickland’s old friend Chris Curtis defended Garry from ‘cu*k’ blame even without knowing the full details.

Unfortunately, his tweeting backfired and Curtis became the target of harassment, including from Strickland himself. Curtis eventually deactivated his Twitter account.

While on the mends, Curtis has currently even had a fallout with Strickland for other reasons. Fighters like ‘Tarzan’ and Holland also shifted attention to gibe at Sean O’Malley and his long-running open relationship with his wife, Danya Gonzalez as in yet another gold digger. All in all, the matter has been one for ages and is far from over.
