This time, a UFC Hall of Famer, Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone, shared the same sentiment. The UFC CEO Dana White recently shared his tidbits on Cerrone’s wish.
The UFC CEO discussed various compelling topics during the recent DWCS presser. One of the questions posed to him was about the potential return of Donald Cerrone to the UFC octagon. In his response, Dana White appeared unenthusiastic about the idea, expressing his disinterest in Cerrone’s comeback. White even stated that he did not want Cerrone to fight again.

This comes after Cowboy’s recent announcement of his return on his social media, where he clearly stated his comeback. In addition, Cerrone also addressed how he has evolved since his retirement. However, in the midst of that, the UFC Hall of Famer also mentioned that he had to clear himself from drug tests to compete again. Interestingly, Dana White found all this unnecessary and wants Cerrone to stay retired.
The CEO of the UFC has consistently expressed his admiration for Donald Cerrone. As such, White has publicly praised Cowboy and acknowledged his respect for him on numerous occasions. In turn, Cerrone has demonstrated his unwavering loyalty to the promotion and a solid commitment to the sport. Furthermore, Cowboy has had a remarkable and enduring career in the UFC, spanning nearly two decades.
Donald Cerrone’s illustrious UFC career
Cowboy made his UFC debut more than a decade ago. Over his illustrious career, Cerrone has fought numerous formidable opponents. Some of the notable names among them are Conor McGregor, Tony Ferguson, and Nate Diaz. Although he failed to win against these three fighters, Cerrone has defeated several others. This has contributed to his popularity as one of the top fighters in the promotion.
One of the key reasons for Cerrone’s growing popularity was his ability to knock his opponents out brutally. However, his career at the promotion didn’t end on a good note. Ahead of his retirement from UFC, Cowboy had an ongoing six-fight losing streak. His last fight at the promotion was against another UFC veteran, Jim Miller.
After losing to Miller, Donald Cerrone retired at the age of 39. Recognizing his exceptional dedication to the sport, the UFC inducted him into their Hall of Fame class of 2023. Although Cerrone has expressed a desire for a comeback, Dana White feels it is unnecessary. Only time will tell if Cowboy will indeed return.
