The Philadelphia 76ers and their star player Joel Embiid continue to struggle in the early days of the NBA season. Injuries and inconsistencies have depleted them overall. Their most recent loss coming against Jimmy Butler and his Miami Heat side. Despite, Embiid and the 76ers’ poor form, the ex-MVP made sure to give Butler immense credit for his heroics.
Embiid recently sparked controversy in the basketball community. This was when he said Jimmy Butler was the NBA’s ‘top ‘best’ player over the likes of Nikola Jokic and LeBron James. Embiid praised his former teammate during a post-game press session, highlighting Butler’s overall effect on the court. This is especially after his spectacular comeback to the Miami Heat lineup.
Butler had a season-high 30 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists after missing four games due to a sprained ankle. He demonstrated his ability to dominate in crucial situations by shooting an effective 8–12 from the field. Also, 1–1 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 13–13 from the free-throw line. This showcases the star power the Heat missed over the last games in the NBA.
I talked to Joel Embiid about Jimmy Butler tonight:
“One of the best players in the league. Probably top five. Probably the best actually.” pic.twitter.com/zxYFKh45kJ

Since joining the Heat, Butler has established himself as one of the NBA’s best players. His general consistency and regular-season numbers fall short of the standards usually applied to determine who the world’s finest player is. With the likes of James, Jokic, and Stephen Curry still playing in the league, some fans might not agree with what Joel Embiid said.
Jimmy Butler ‘happy to be back’ after recent win against 76ers
After the Miami Heat’s recent win against the Philadelphia 76ers, their star man Jimmy Butler sat alongside his teammate Tyler Herro for press duties. They spoke about various topics regarding their performances and upcoming expectations. However, it was Butler who seemed ecstatic to ‘be back hooping’ with his teammates.
Before making his comeback on Monday, Butler missed four of the Heat’s first 12 games this season. In three of the previous four seasons, he has missed 20 or more games throughout the regular season due to injury and other circumstances. He now seems fit and ready to go this 2024-25 NBA season and will aim to prove a point in the upcoming matches for his side.
