What offended MMA stars at the Paris Olympics starter?
The opening ceremony began at 1:30 p.m. EDT (reairs on NBC.com, and the NBC app) and saw celebrities flock to the grandeur. Despite a rainy forecast, the four-hour ceremony was without a hitch. Drag Race France Season 1 contestant Kam Hugh was also notable. However, neither Paris Olympics Authorities nor NBCOlympics.com confirmed this was actually a parody of ‘The Last Supper.’ Barring from the American LGBTQ publication Out magazine, the display did not garner favors. More mainstream personalities, MMA or otherwise, are sure to lambast it even more.
What went right at the opening ceremony
French judo champion Teddy Riner and three-time sprint gold medalist Marie-José Pérec lit the torch attached to a giant balloon that floated into the Paris night. A tight rope here, performers there, with Lady Gaga singing. It was naturally a spectacular affair.
