Speak's Paul Pierce makes a shocking comparison between Chiefs 8-0 start to 2024 with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Paul Pierce has been impressed by Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs all season. In his view, the Chiefs remind him of former champion boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Mayweather, better known as Money Mayweather, never lost a fight in the ring. He was 50 out of 50 with 27 knockouts, winning titles in various weight classes.

The Chiefs, since lifting the Super Bowl last season, are 8 for 8. Their win record stretches back even further to last yearโ€™s Christmas, to 14 games.

However, their defense overshadowed the offense. Andy Reidโ€™s offense ranked smacked down the middle of the pile while the defense was among the best three until the last couple of games after acquiring all-pro receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

The Chiefs lacked depth in the receiver spot due to injuries to Rashee Rice, Hollywood Brown, and Juju-Smith Schuster. Hopkins filled that void alongside star tight end Travis Kelce, finally shaking off the early season rust to lodge his first 100-yard game last week.

Paul Pierce claims the dominance that Mahomes and the Chiefs have shown in the eleven months is comparable to the latter half of Mayweatherโ€™s career.

The more and more I watch the Chiefs, they do look unbeatableโ€ฆ They remind me of Floyd Mayweather, like at the back end of his career. He wouldnโ€™t knock you out, but he just kept beating peopleโ€ฆ And thatโ€™s what the Chiefs look like. They grind you out with the run game. Itโ€™s slow and methodical, and when itโ€™s time for the big play, BAM [Patrick] Mahomes hits you.

FOX analyst lashes out at fans who accuse referees of favoring Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs

Andy Reid, Matt Nagy (offensive coordinator), and Steve Spagnuolo (defensive coordinator) may get much praise for their fantastic job, but thereโ€™s also a section who believe that they have been favored by the league officials at crucial moments, allowing them wins.

However, FOX Sports analyst and avid Chiefs fan Nick Wright completely thwarted that perception recently.

Shut the Fu** Up. The Chiefs have so broken everyoneโ€™s brainโ€ฆ Everyone is such crybabies. I have to listen to people like, Youโ€™re so luckyโ€ฆ Shut Up, Shut Up, and eat it. The idea they got lucky [because] of the refsโ€ฆ Shut Up.

Nick Wright said via Dan Le Batard show

The Chiefs are on the path to securing a historic three-peat after winning back-to-back Super Bowls in 2022-23. Even though Patrick Mahomesโ€™ has had a mixed-bag season, throwing 11 touchdowns and 9 interceptions, heโ€™s still among the favorites for the NFL MVP.

The Chiefs also have the best odds (+425) to win the Super Bowl, as per Forbes Magazine.
