Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors were hanging right in the play in spots. To their own fans, it would seem fine as the team tries to look for another piece to help them make a playoff push. However, their latest embarrassment at the hands of the Boston Celtics has raised questions.

The Boston Celtics started the game strong and streaked into an early lead. They managed to keep it intact in the first half knowing the Warriors are third quarter champions. However, the reigning NBA Champions showed that they too can respond by blitzing the Warriors in the third quarter.

By the time it went into the fourth, the game was all but over. Fans watching inside Chase Center could not believe this is the same team that netted four NBA titles and went on to change the way basketball is played.

However, this performance had nothing to do with the dynasty. The Warriors were shorthanded, but losing by 40 points tends to ring alarm bells. For the experienced heads on Inside the NBA, they knew that Steph Curry and his team looked lost. Kenny Smith said this when analyzing their performance.

The rebuild is different. They should go young, through the draft, through trade, keep guys like Kuminga.

Kenny Smith said

The two-time champion clarified that unlike the Los Angeles Lakers, the Warriors have to go younger if they are to be successful. He based his reasoning behind the fact that Steph Curry seems to have lost a step and to counter that, they need younger players who can move the ball.

Charles Barkley wants Steph Curry and Warriors to trade for another star

Smith’s analysis was based on what he felt the Golden State Warriors are lacking. However, Charles Barkley instantly disagreed with the notion that the franchise should look towards building a future. He instead, said this.

Unless they go out and get a superstar and try to rebuild, that’s their only chance. Because Steph is old. Getting younger ain’t gonna make them better.

Charles Barkley said

When the former league MVP was saying this, colleague Shaquille O’Neal asked if the Warriors should go grab another superstar such as Jimmy Butler. Barkley did not respond negatively but clarified that the franchise needs another superstar who they can build upon.

Charles Barkley feels Steph Curry is old and slow. Just adding young pieces will not elevate them to a level where they can take on tough Western Conference playoff teams. They only have a chance if they move their focus off their most important superstar.
