Winning the BMF belt is one of the most special achievements a fighter can achieve in his UFC career. Currently, former featherweight champion Max Holloway holds the title, and other top lightweights are eager to get it from him. However, the original ‘BMF’ Nate Diaz isn’t necessarily a fan of all the latest developments.
Three-time lightweight title challenger Dustin Poirier recently proposed a four-way tournament for the BMF title. He named fighters such as Dan Hooker, Justin Gaethje, and Max Holloway to participate in the tournament. Subsequently, Nate Diaz took to social media to share his reaction. As it turns out, the legend is halfway appreciating the idea.
Both Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje have previously fought for the title and have proved their worth for it. However, it isn’t surprising to see Diaz rejecting their credentials, given his personal beef with both fighters. DP was previously linked with fighting Nate Diaz, which resulted in various verbal exchanges between both of them.

Similarly, Gaethje and Diaz have had online feuds in the past, with the ‘Highlight’ mocking Diaz’s UFC career. Gaethje has criticized the Stockton native for never winning a UFC title and having no knockout power. However, it is safe to say Diaz’s reputation in the MMA community extends far beyond his records and accomplishments.
Nate Diaz: The uncrowned BMF
Nate Diaz is known as the ‘uncrowned BMF’ due to his relentless fighting style, street credibility, and readiness to fight anyone at any time. His renowned endurance, unforgettable moments in the cage, and attitude outside the octagon are well-known. He and his elder brother, Nick Diaz, are some of the most popular fighters in the UFC, with a huge and loyal fan base.
At UFC 244, Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal first talked about battling it out for the ‘Baddest motherf****’ tag. However, initially, there was no belt involved, but Dana White thought of adding one much later. According to White, the rivalry became so popular that they got the idea to make a belt.
Masvidal won the official BMF championship in their fight at UFC 244. However, many fans believe Diaz represents the genuine spirit of the BMF title. His legacy is sealed as one of the UFC’s toughest and most respected competitors. What originated as a one-and-done competition has now developed into BMF legacy and fighters are desperate to be a part of its lineage.
