Matt Brown didn’t get the usual feeling about his fight which led him to retire from fighting. Brown recently announced that he would no longer be a part of UFC after a long stint in the promotion. While it was a tough decision for the fighter, the signs were pretty clear.

The legendary fighter recently did an interview with MMA Junkie where he talked about the exact moment he decided to hang his gloves. The fighter revealed that he got an email from UFC about a fight against Max Griffin. However, after reading it, he didn’t feel the excitement.

The UFC did make me an offer a few months ago for a fight and when I got the email….my d*** didn’t get hard. I didn’t get a feeling down my spine. I wasn’t excited. I was like, ‘Man, I could use that money. That’d be cool.’ But I just didn’t get fired up about it.

Matt Brown had not engaged in combat since May 2023 and had been considering quitting for some time. He did, however, cling to the hope that he would get one last dance on the historic UFC 300 show in Las Vegas last month. Brown stated that he had anticipated receiving a contract to face Jim Miller in what would have been his final bout before the organization chose to schedule Miller to face Bobby Green. However, nothing really mattered to him anymore.

While talking about it, Brown revealed that he had talked with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship about his potential debut in the promotion.

I’ve talked a little bit with those people [at BKFC]. It’s not completely out of the question. Bareknuckle doesn’t excite me a ton because it’s just boxing with the hands
