‘Trailblazer’ Holland has always been infamous for his quirky but quick-to-wit side. His quick and sure arm snap over his opponent at UFC 302 PPV in June is a pure testament to that and also a hot SOTY contender mention. The Team Travis Lutter BJJ fighter is one of the few friendly crops ready to jump into action and be there for it, always.
But podcast co-hosts and Mike Perry were left gawking wide at his iteration of jumping into it with the heroics again, saving people from a flipped-over car! Actively saving the day is not something one expects out of a testosterone-ey MMA fighter all of a sudden. For now, though, he reels in the crime-fighting, overturned car saves, and cats-from-trees, and goes to camp for UFC 311.
UFC 311 adds Kevin Holland vs. Reinier de Ridder in popular middleweight scrap
A pair of popular middleweights are to collide in Southern California. Reinier de Ridder and Kevin Holland joined the ranks of Arman Tsarukyan, Jamahal Hill, rival Jiri Prochazka, Jailton Almeida, Ailin Perez, Grant Dawson, and others in the lineup. SBNation Network (MMAMania) reported the matchup first, with sources close to both sides confirming it.
Kevin Holland will be ready for his new challenge (Source: IMAGO)De Ridder (18-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) made his UFC debut on 9 November with a third-round submission of Gerald Meerschaert. He came to the promotion as the former ONE Championship light heavyweight champion. Hence, it’s quite a challenge.
Holland (26-12 MMA, 13-9 UFC) most recently fought in October. He lost to Roman Dolidze after suffering a rib injury while scrambling. Holland was able to make it to the end of the first round. However, due to his condition, trainer Bob Perez had no choice but to stop the fight. The defeat was his third in four fights. Before this, he scrapped with Michal Oleksiejczuk, Jack Della Maddalena, and Michael Page.
Middleweight is Kevin Holland’s home. But ‘Trailblazer’ has muddled through the 170 streets and doesn’t mind a drop again. He meets a well-rounded rival who hydrated at 205-pound levels. But Holland is here for it. Come UFC 311: Makhachev vs. Tsarukyan 2, Holland will be trying to bank on his -150 opening odd in his favors.
