Michael 'Venom' Page eyes 'chilling' ex-champ Kamaru Usman after electric Ian Garry fight at UFC 303

Michael Page will take on Ian Garry this June at UFC 303. While everybody is excited to witness the two throwdowns in the octagon, Page has already mapped out his next potential fight. His plan involves a faceoff against the former welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman.

Michael Page talked about this in a recent interview. During their discussion Page talked about who he wants to take on in his upcoming UFC fights. This was when he brought up Kamaru Usman. The Brit said if he puts out Garry, a showdown against ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ would be the next logical fight.

Usman, he’s just chilling there. He’s ranked number one as well, and obviously, massive respect to him for what he’s done in his career and what he’s still doing in his career. But he’s just sat at the top. Like, where would I go next… It’s likely I’ll need to fight one more time, so I think it just makes the most sense.

Michael Page ranks #14 in the UFC’s welterweight rankings. He wants to skip the line and directly take on Usman who is currently the top contender in the division. In the upcoming fight at UFC 303, the former Bellator star will take on Ian Garry who is yet to taste his first defeat.

Garry stands at #7 in the division. So a win over him would mean a boost in rankings for MVP. However, Ian Garry had different plans for his UFC 303 showdown, or at least this fight with Michael ‘Venom’ Page where people are clearly invested.

Michael Page reveals why Ian Garry would lose at UFC 303

Ian Garry has trained under multiple coaches across his 14-fight MMA career. He has already faced controversy for getting kicked out of Team Renegade. He had blamed that on welterweight champion Leon Edwards. However, Michael ‘Venom’ Page had something different to say about it.

During his recent conversation with David Adesanya, the former Bellator champion talked about how fighters like Garry, who do not build a relationship with the people they train with, struggle to find success in their careers. ‘The Future’ has managed to remain 14-0 up till now. However, MVP believes Garry needs to change his habits.

I think you learn better when you are working with people that you genuinely trust as well… If you don’t have that relationship, or that line of communication, then for the most part, you’re gonna lose the fight.

Michael Page had predicted a quick fight that would not last over two minutes. However, Garry sent out a contrasting prediction stating that it would be a slow fight, at least at the start. It is definitely an exciting matchup. Will Ian Garry face his first defeat? Will MVP’s dreams of fighting Kamaru Usman get stalled? Only time will tell.
