However, the highlight of the night was the Grizzlies’ young star, Scotty Pippen Jr. The 23-year-old star etched his name in history books by joining his father, Scottie Pippen, to become the first father-son duo to record a triple-double.
Scotty Pippen Jr. finished with an impressive stat line of 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists. With that performance, he and his father, Scottie Pippen, became the first father-son duo in NBA history to each record a triple-double. The milestone is incredibly unique, achieving a feat that even the legendary LeBron James and his son, Bronny James, have not yet reached.

Scotty Pippen Jr. adds another patch on his shoulder as the young star has gone from strength to strength this season. After spending multiple years on two-way contracts and floating in the G-League, Pippen Jr. reached a standard 4-year NBA contract with the Grizzlies this season. The 23-year-old has been a major factor in the Grizzlies standing with a 6-4 record, even without star guard Desmond Bane.

Following the game, Scotty Pippen Jr. received congratulations from all corners, but none more special than from his mother, Larsa Pippen. Larsa, the ex-wife of Scottie Pippen, took to Instagram to share her excitement for her son’s accomplishment. She posted screenshots of congratulatory tweets and highlighted the historic milestone that the Pippen family had achieved.
In her stories, Larsa Pippen penned a heartwarming message, writing, “Congrats my love @spippenjr”. The Pippens will continue to celebrate their historic achievement as the young Pippen Jr. continues to make his mark in the league.
The Grizzlies guard has shown shades of his father’s game, filling up the stat sheet on all ends of the floor. Through 10 games in the season, Scottie Pippen Jr. has averaged 11.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, 6.9 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.
Even more remarkable is his efficiency, shooting 50% from the field and 41.4% from distance. He has established himself as a key player in the Grizzlies rotation amidst injury troubles for the team.
