The Philadelphia Sixers have not been performing up to scratch in the NBA this season. After signing Paul George in the off-season, things have not gone according to the plan for the Sixers. This is mainly because their main center, Joel Embiid is out injured. Due to this, George has been playing in the ‘center’ role for the Sixers.
Head coach Nick Nurse has had to be inventive with his lineup because Embiid has missed 23 games this season and the last three due to a foot injury. In addition, George hinted on Friday that he doesn’t like being used in a small-ball lineup as a center. When questioned about his thoughts about playing the five, George told reporters, “To be honest, I’m bored,” following the Sixers’ 123-115 home loss to the New Orleans Pelicans.
There’s no way Paul George actually said “I’m bored” during a press conference 😭😭😭😭😭 pic.twitter.com/q74YV3heH9

Not only Embiid, the Sixers’ backup center, Andre Drummond is also out injured, adding more fuel to the situation. Guerschon Yabusele and Adem Bona were the only big men on the Sixers roster. This is since Embiid and Drummond were sidelined. Except for a brief period in the fourth quarter, when George played with Caleb Martin, Tyrese Maxey, Kelly Oubre, and Ricky Council IV, one member of that duo was on the court the entire time on Friday.
After five seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers, George signed a four-year, $212 million contract with the Sixers during the offseason. He is now scoring at his lowest rate since the 2014–15 season. He recently recovered from a terrible leg injury, averaging 16.5 points per game. Also, the Sixers have been dealing with several injuries through different parts of the season. This has made it difficult for the roster to cope with their rivals this year.
Paul George, 34, has spent most of his 15-year career as a wing player, and he has flourished in that position, being selected to the NBA All-Defensive Team four times and receiving nine All-Star selections. However, this season, he has had to play in the ‘Center’ role for his side, the Philadelphia Sixers. His recent comments about ‘being bored’ in playing as a center did not go down well with the NBA fans.
Many fans took to various social media apps to put forward their views and thoughts on George’s recent comments. Some even trolled the Sixers star for his remarks. One fan wrote, “PG is the Michael Jordan of saying dumb shit into microphones lmao” Check out some of the reactions below:

Paul George is also having a poor season statistically, missing 11 games this season. He’s only been shooting 34.1 percent from beyond the arc and 41.7 percent from the field. This season, George has also been much less productive. The Sixers have had a difficult season overall, sitting at 11th in the Eastern Conference with a 15–21 record.
