At the iconic Noche UFC event, Sean O’Malley faced Merab Dvalishvili in a highly anticipated main event. However, the fight did not unfold as expected for the defending champion. The Georgian challenger delivered a dominant performance, leaving O’Malley overwhelmed and outclassed. For Dvalishvili, it seemed less like a challenge and more like an opportunity to showcase his trolling skills.
In the last few seconds of the second round, Merab Dvalishvili had O’Malley in a hold, but it wasn’t tight enough to get a tap. As the second round was about to end, the ‘Machine’ decided to kiss O’Malley on his back in order to mock him. In a recent interview, the newly crowned champion shared details about the incident.
Ahead of the fight, both O’Malley and Dvalishvili were engaged in constant online trolling via hilarious skits. This made the rivalry even more intriguing for the fans, who turned in to watch the clash. It seems like the Georgian carried the same energy into the octagon and also managed to destroy O’Malley.
Dvalishvili is currently on an 11-fight win streak and has dominated most of his opponents inside the octagon. He ran through corner champions like Jose Aldo, Petr Yan, and Henry Cejudo with ease. However, the O’Malley fight was extremely disappointing for experts and fans.
UFC veteran questions Sean O’Malley’s motivation to fight Merab Dvalishvili
Going into the fight, Sean O’Malley was in red-hot form and had won six fights with one no-contest. He is known for being a sharpshooter and has the ability to knock out anyone with ease. While Dvalishvili was initially the betting favorite, fans expected ‘Suga’ to put up a challenge, but that wasn’t the case.
UFC CEO Dana White was also disappointed with O’Malley’s performance and mentioned that the Montana native looked flat. Fans also observed that the fighter was unable to defend any takedowns against Dvalishvili. UFC veteran Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson also pointed out the same in his podcast.
After the devastating loss, O’Malley initially contested the result and accused the judges of robbing him. However, the fighter has now accepted his fate and remains motivated to get back his throne. O’Malley has also talked about changing his social media patterns to prioritize his comeback.
