Muslim UFC fighters often face unique challenges when training during Ramadan. That is because the month involves fasting from dawn to sunset, which can affect their energy levels. However, Belal Muhammad sees Ramadan as an opportunity to strengthen both mentally and spiritually. He talked about it with Joe Rogan on his recent appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience.ย

During his discussion with Joe Rogan, the UFC commentator asked Belal Muhammad about his training process during Ramadan. The Palestinian champion had some very interesting things to say as he went through the entire preparation process.

For myself, for the reasons I am doing it, I know I can push through. And I know that whoever I am training for is not doing what I am doing. So I can push myself harder than they can when it gets into the cage…mentally it just puts me in a different place.

Belal Muhammad continues to train without food or water during the day. He views it as a mental challenge that prepares him for the physical demands of fighting. He likened the process to having a weight cut every single day but highlighted that the body eventually gets used to it. He also highlighted the importance of mindful eating so that it does not mess up his next training session while fasting.
