Alex Pereira and Jamahal Hill‘s rivalry hit a new turn this past week. Almost two months after the UFC 300 event, ‘Sweet Dreams’ decided to call out ‘Poatan’ for his actions post-victory. Pereira who had previously sent out a nonchalant comment, had a hilarious response this time in the latest interview.

Alex Pereira recently did an interview with Fox Sports Australia. Through his interpreter, the light heavyweight champion addressed Jamahal Hill’s callout on Instagram.

To be honest, I don’t get why he’s doing this so late. It’s been almost two months. People usually do that right away, but maybe he just woke up from the knockout.

Alex Pereira and Jamahal Hill had a last-minute showdown at UFC 300 where they headlined the main event. Hill who had previously held the title came to reclaim it post-injury, while Pereira was fighting his first title defense. The fight went viral when Pereira knocked him down in the third round. But what went even more viral was the Brazilian’s celebration over his knocked-down opponent.

The other week, Hill renewed his vows to avenge his defeat with an Instagram post that went viral. In that post, Hill had called out Pereira for his disrespectful behavior post-victory and promised to knock him out in their rematch. Other than the negative pushback from the fans, Hill received a reply from the champion as well who simply commented,“you reap what you sow.” It will be interesting to see if the two have a showdown again in the octagon anytime soon to settle this dispute once and for all.

Alex Pereira was the middleweight champion until UFC 287 where he faced Israel Adesanya. He then moved up the weight class to fight Jan Blachowicz at light-heavyweight. After defeating Blachowicz Pereira fought for the vacant title against Jiri Prochazka at UFC 295. Now, with a title defense already under his belt, what will the champion do for his next fight? Would he move up a weight class again as the rumors suggested and face the UFC heavyweights?

Poatan addressed this in his latest interview with Fox Sports Australia. The interviewer asked Pereira what he thought about fighting a potential rematch with Jiri Prochazka in Australia.

Well, that would be awesome, now seeing all the love from the people specially seeing all the love from the people here. People are super nice to us. But its not up to me, its up to the organisation. I’m not the one in control so whatever they want me to fight next I’ll fight.

Jiri Prochazka is a former UFC light heavyweight champion. ‘Poatan’ had beaten him in style with elbows at UFC 295. Their fight lasted two rounds the last time they stepped into the cage. Will it be any different this time? Only time will tell.
