Max Holloway is set to face Ilia Topuria headlining the main event of UFC 308. Reigning featherweight champion, Ilia Topuria will defend his title for the first time since defeating Alexander Volkanovski earlier this year. Meanwhile, Holloway is coming off a knockout victory over Justin Gaethje at UFC 300 where he earned a massive $600K performance bonus. In a recent statement, Max Holloway revealed his intentions to beat that record.

With a few weeks left till fight night, Max Holloway recently released a video on his YouTube channel. In that video, Holloway mentions plans to exceed expectations for his performance against the Spanish-Georgian UFC champion after a career-highlight performance at UFC 300.

Everybody thought UFC 300 was amazing, wait till they get to see the outcome of UFC 308. Itโ€™s gonna be a good one.

Topuria enters the fight as the favorite due to his undefeated record and striking prowess. His record shows him finishing most of his UFC opponents within two rounds. Holloway, on the other hand, is known for his unstoppable pace and volume striking, which has made him a staple at the top of the featherweight division for nearly a decade.ย

Despite being the underdog, Hollowayโ€™s experience and durability will make this a compelling matchup. He is a former featherweight champion and current BMF titleholder. The fight will take place this October at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. This fight was moved to headline the main event after lightweight champion Islam Makhachev had to pull out due to a hand injury.

Dan Hooker recently did an interview with Submission Radio. There โ€˜The Hangmanโ€™ was vocal about his desire to compete for the BMF title. Hooker sees a potential matchup with Holloway as a way to stake his claim as one of the toughest fighters in the UFC. On the other hand, Hooker is also eyeing a shot at the lightweight title, currently held by Islam Makhachev.

The BMF is something that fans love. They’ve always thrown my name in the hat for it… On the same hand, Arman breaks his leg tomorrow then who’s gonna fight Islam for the world title? Whatever happens next… I need to get my a** ready for it.

Given his recent performances and rising stock within the division, Hooker believes he is close to earning a title eliminator bout. This could potentially set him up for a shot at the 155-pound championship. With a three-fight win streak under his belt, it will be interesting to see who the UFC sets up Dan Hooker against next.
