Ian Garry recently secured his undefeated status with another win at UFC 303. However, he now wants to challenge himself and take on a fellow undefeated UFC contender. Earlier, Garry sat down at the post-fight press conference and called out Shavkat Rakhmonov for a potential showdown in the octagon. Meanwhile, the undefeated Kazakh had a fitting response for his fellow welterweight contender.

Ian Garry recently defeated Michael Page at UFC 303 via unanimous decision. Later at the post-fight press conference, Garry addressed his next potential matchup in the octagon. The 15-0 Irishman said that he was confident he could take on Shavkat Rakhmonov and be the first one to beat him in the octagon. This made its way to the internet and the undefeated Kazakh sent out a message in response on X.

Looks like Ian forgot what happened during those training sessions. I don’t mind reminding him in the future.

Garry had said that he was going to have a chat with Hunter Campbell and Dana White to figure out who he would fight next. The Irishman said there were some “big names” and some “cool matchups.” One of them was Shavkat Rakhmonov. Garry was respectful of the undefeated Kazakh and recalled having trained with him. However, ‘The Future’ said he wanted to be the first guy to beat Rakhmonov and he knew he could do it.

While Garry is focused on beating Rakhmonov’s record, he has already beaten another record of an even bigger UFC star.

Irish MMA statistician Andy Hickey recently sent out a tweet on X. There he wrote that Ian Garry has successfully surpassed Conor McGregor with eight consecutive wins in the UFC while being undefeated. This record was previously held by ‘The Notorious’ who went 7-0 undefeated in the UFC before losing to Nate Diaz at UFC 196.

It is worth mentioning that McGregor had already secured the featherweight title by the time he was 7-0. Garry has taken a slower route, currently ranking #7 in the UFC’s welterweight division. It will be interesting to see how far the Irishman can carry out his undefeated legacy in the UFC.
