The ‘Notorious’ Conor McGregor remains the most talked-about UFC superstar even in his lengthy absence. Over the years, he has consistently shown glimpses of his exquisite talent. Recently, he went live on a betting platform called Duelbits. During this, he seemingly criticized UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria.
Conor McGregor remains noticeably agitated, with UFC return nowhere in sight. Interestingly, Ilia Topuria recently insulted the Notorious. As such, the featherweight champion commented that the Irishman wasn’t important enough to fight at the moment. Topuria’s words struck a nerve when an intoxicated McGregor was asked about a fight with ‘El Matador’ during a recent Duelbits live stream.
Topuria’s remarks clearly offended the Irishman, and he continued to challenge him to a fight at BKFC Spain on October 12. Interestingly, this is not the first time the Irishman and the Spaniard have exchanged such jabs at each other.
It all started after Topuria’s impressive victory at UFC 298 to become the featherweight champion. ‘El Matador’ promptly expressed his desire to fight the Notorious next, to which McGregor responded sarcastically, thus sparking their feud.
Conor McGregor just WENT OFF on Ilia Topuria 😭😭😭
“Litle ding dong of a thing he is… little short ass tick, I’ll box your jaw in ON SIGHT.”

The McGregor vs. Topuria matchup might undoubtedly be a strategic move. However, the complication of Topuria holding the title might be a hurdle, but the rules tend to bend when McGregor’s name is in the mix. In one instance, El Matador did mention defeating the Notorious in any weight class. Amidst all this, the Spaniard also considered McGregor his idol once.
Conor McGregor was his inspiration, claims Ilia Topuria
Conor McGregor’s journey at the UFC is not stranger to anyone. Over his illustrious career, he defeated several formidable opponents and became a double champion. His most notable wins came against Jose Aldo and Eddie Alvarez in 2015 and 2016, respectively. Following that, McGregor’s trajectory at the promotion peaked. His exquisite journey is often talked about and even inspired many.
UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria is one of them, seemingly inspired by the Irishman’s extravagant feats in the promotion. As such, the Spaniard even tried to gimmick McGregor on several occasions. Most recently, ahead of the fight against Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298. All these clearly show Topuria’s love for the Notorious.
Topuria isn’t a fan of the Irishman’s recent antics. Per the Spaniard, McGregor has betrayed the values that made him one of the greatest fighters. Meanwhile, the Irishman is seemingly unfazed by the criticisms over his recent activities and eyes for an early 2025 return.
