The GOAT (Greatest of All Time) debate between Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes included a new layer. While the former Patriot came out in support of the Boston-based NBA team, the Boston Celtics, Mahomes cheered for their NBA finals opponents, the Dallas Mavericks.
TD Garden, Boston saw the first dual of the 7-game series between the Celtics and the Mavs on Thursday. Mahomes, being a Texan and a graduate of Texas Tech, shared a video on social media in collaboration with the NBA.
The short clip in support of his favorite side caused quite a stir among fans from both ends of the spectrum. It would have been less surprising if a Dallas Cowboys player had shot the video, but the Mavs went with the Super Bowl LVIII MVP.
Patrick Mahomes brought the underdog element into his speech. He has lived through it. The Kansas City Chiefs were down in the dumps before they drafted him in 2017. Since then, the Chiefs have won three Super Bowls.
Similar to the Reds, the Dallas Mavericks have gone through a slump since Dirk Nowitzki retired. Most fans view them as underdogs, which Mahomes took advantage of.

The Mavericks defeated Seed 1, the Oklahoma City Thunder, Seed 4 the Los Angeles Clippers, and Seed 3 the Minnesota Timberwolves to reach the NBA Finals game. They are the first Seed 5 team to reach this stage since the Miami Heat of 2020.
Patrick Mahomes attended several Dallas Mavericks games
The 28-year-old quarterback always squeezes out some time to watch his favorite basketball team play. He went to three games since the football season ended.

Next, he was at the Mavs vs. Wolves game at the American Airlines Center in Dallas a couple of weeks ago. While he was greeted with a loud cheer from the Dallas fans, his Chiefs teammate Travis Kelce faced severe jeers.
Unfortunately, the Mavs lost the first contest against the Celtics, which finished 107-89. Apart from Luka Doncic’s 30 points, no one else managed to add more than 14.
