LiAngelo Ball might be headed for stardom. Not on the basketball court, perhaps, but in the booth with a mic in hand. Ball, the third Ball brother in the trio of Lonzo and LaMelo Ball, has not been able to make similar inroads into the world of basketball as his brothers, but his musical journey seems to be on track with his latest single, ‘Tweaker.’ Released on Friday, the track quickly gained traction, especially within the Cleveland Cavaliers’ locker room.

The Cavaliers currently sit atop the NBA standings with an impressive 30-4 record following their 134-122 victory over the Dallas Mavericks in a game that showcased their depth and dominance. The Cavs turned their postgame celebration into an impromptu listening party after their victory over the Mavericks, bumping the new LiAngelo Ball track.

As the song played in the background, Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell was in the midst of a postgame interview before he soon turned his attention to the soundtrack behind him.

“Come on, fam,” Mitchell said with a laugh. “The fact that you know the words? The song just came out, bro! Shoutout to LiAngelo Ball, I guess.”

Mitchell and the Cavaliers’ affinity to the song all but proves the obvious. LiAngelo Ball might be better with a mic in hand than a basketball. While he has yet to make a lasting impact on the basketball court, his new creative endeavor has clearly struck a chord, at least in Cleveland’s locker room.

Ball’s shift to music comes after a tumultuous basketball journey. Despite stints in the JBA, G-League, and overseas leagues, he has yet to secure a spot in the NBA regular season. His closest brushes with the league came during preseason runs with the Charlotte Hornets and Detroit Pistons, but he couldn’t carve out a permanent role on the court.

LiAngelo Ball’s latest song leaves fans in splits with hilarious reactions

While LiAngelo Ball’s career on the court may not have taken off, his career behind the mic is certainly taking off around the NBA world. After the release of Ball’s latest song, fans were in splits, pouring in memes and hilarious reactions for the 2000s crunk-inspired nostalgic track. Here are some of the top reactions to the song.

Even with his musical endeavors, however, LiAngelo Ball remains motivated to make a comeback to the NBA. He made an appearance on Angel Reese’s Unapologetically Angel podcast a few weeks ago, where he reasserted that he’ll still try to make an NBA roster. His passion for basketball remains evident even if it has not borne the desired results so far.

While his brothers Lonzo Ball and LaMelo Ball have cemented themselves in the NBA, LiAngelo’s path has been less conventional. His averages of 7.2 points and 1.7 rebounds per game in the G-League’s Showcase Cup hinted at potential, but his decision to bypass overseas opportunities, despite lucrative offers, has left his basketball future in limbo.
