In the eyes of many, Jon Jones is the arguable GOAT of MMA. However, others cite his doping violations and troubles outside the octagon as factors questioning his status. Nonetheless, interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall does not question his status. However, he did question Jonesโ€™ relevancy.

Despite being the interim heavyweight champion, the UFC was against Aspinall, challenging the undisputed champion Jones. Both have engaged in social media regarding the issue, but it has somewhat subsided. Aspinall has now made a statement that might reinvigorate the rivalry.

I honestly think Jon Jones is a legend. I respect what he’s done in the Octagon, but right now he’s quite irrelevant to what I’m doing…This is said with a lot of respect; I have nothing against Jon regardless of what he says. It’s all bollocks.

Aspinall stated his priority right now is Curtis Blaydes, his opponent in the co-main event of UFC 304. Ciryl Gane was the original opponent but rejected the fight as he was busy acting in a French movie. Many have called for the UFC to strip Jones of the title and make Blaydes vs. Aspinall for the undisputed title.

However, the UFC plans to make Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 in Madison Square Garden. There is a possibility that Jones and Miocic will retire after the fight. Therefore, if victorious against Blaydes, Aspinall might become the undisputed champion without stepping inside the octagon.

Ciryl Gane has rejected fights with Tom Aspinall for numerous reasons, the recent one being for a movie role. Interestingly, Aspinall revealed he had said no to movie roles and wanted to concentrate on his MMA career.

However, Aspinall has showcased his acting prowess in a hilarious video announcing the debut of his show with TNT Sports, Tom Aspinallโ€™s Fight Lab. In the video, Aspinall mistook Chelsea legend Joe Cole for another legend, Andy Cole, who played for Manchester United.

Adam Catterall had tricked Aspinall before Coleโ€™s arrival. When Cole arrived, Aspinall praised him as the best left back of the generation and put his hand on the ex-footballers shoulder. Cole removed the hand and walked away.

Funnily enough, Aspinall felt the situation was similar to when Jon Jones removed his when he placed it on the Americanโ€™s shoulder. Nonetheless, the show successfully premiered days before UFC 300 and was a big success. Aspinall taught Cole basic MMA techniques and previewed fights of UFC 300.
