Kirk Cousins aims to finish his career with the Atlanta Falcons. The four-time Pro Bowl quarterback doesn’t prefer becoming a journeyman in the twilight of his career like NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal.

I want this to be my final stop. No offense, but I don’t want to play for the Phoenix Suns and the Boston Celtics at the end. I want to finish with the Miami Heat, if you will, and be done. That’s really my plan.
Kirk Cousins told Shaquille O’Neal

After being drafted by the Orlando Magic in 1992, Shaq went to play for the Los Angeles Lakers, where he won three NBA championships. Afterward, he played for the Miami Heat, winning his fourth title. From there, he moved on to spend seasons with the Phoenix Suns and Cleveland Cavaliers. Eventually, O’Neal finished his career in Boston with the Celtics in 2011.

Last year, Cousins’ campaign ended prematurely after he suffered an Achilles tear in Week 8. His contract was coming to an end, which the Vikings showed reluctance to extend. With seemingly no resistance, the Atlanta Falcons swooped in and signed the 35-year-old to a massive, four-year, $180 million contract.

While speaking with O’Neal, Cousins revealed that he not only wants to finish his career in Atlanta but also wants to make it memorable for his two sons.

My boys are [6 and 5], and they won’t remember that I played in Washington; they will barely remember that I played for Minnesota. They’re going to remember I played for the Falcons, and I want those to be good memories. I want to finish really strong here in [Atlanta] and have my boys say, Yeah, ‘He may have played for Washington or Minnesota, but we remember him as a Falcon.

NBC Sports revealed that Cousins will wear No. 8, which he has worn since his college days. Wide receiver Kyle Pitts had the number for the Falcons, who agreed to give up for the veteran quarterback and will wear the No. 18.
