Away from the scope of fighting, Khabib Nurmagomedov seems to land himself in a new battle. As per some reports, some of the former lightweight titleholder’s firms are now on a block. Khabib has reportedly run into a $3 million tax debt, with Russian authorities finding irregularities in his business frame.
The media coverage outlet Mash has reported the matter. According to a report by mma.metarating.ru, the tax agency has questioned Khabib Nurmagomedov for reportedly owing $3.3 million (or just over 300 million rubles) in taxes to the Russian Federal Tax Service. In a post on its Telegram channel on Saturday, Mash alleged that ‘The Eagle’ relinquished the ownership of several firms. Nevertheless, his associates and relatives remain at the helm.
This has created some major discrepancies in the taxing paperwork and documents, leading to the closure of a few firms. Apparently, the former fighter didn’t pay into the coffers of the current administration before upkeeping hotels/start-ups in Turkey and the UAE.

If Khabib Nurmagomedov is unable to prove his innocence or settle with the agency, there might be damning windfalls. Khabib would accordingly try to move heaven and earth to resolve this.

According to Article 199 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, he is subsequently staring down the barrel of legal penalties. More severe punishments can also include a labor camp for three years or six years of imprisonment.

According to Mash, Khabib Nurmagomedov owes the Federal Tax Services in Russia 306 million rubles ($3.3 million USD).
The department has blocked the accounts of the Eagle FC promotion, a charitable foundation, and other companies.

With a blockage from the Federal Tax Service, Khabib, however, has no formal charges pending. Neither are most other ventures and endorsements blocked. Hence, he can work his way up to legitimizing his innocence in alleged tax debt. The former champion has yet to break his silence on the claims officially.
