Through the most-anticipated trade deal, the New York Jets acquired another superstar player in the offense, Davante Adams. Although the veteran is excited about his transition from Las Vegas to New York, he hadn’t realized the notorious media of the city. Fortunately for him, he received some valuable advice from none other than Kevin Durant

In the latest edition of the Up & Adams show hosted by Kay Adams, the NBA superstar recalled his time playing for the Brooklyn Nets and his media interactions. Speaking on the subject, he was asked whether he has any advice for the new athlete representing NYC in the NFL, on handling the media.

Once you play in New York, it’s not as scary as you think. Just like anywhere else you’re going to get criticized if you don’t play well. They going to love you when you win. So just, win. You know what I’m saying? It’s that simple in New York. If you come to play, people appreciate the work you put in on the field.

Durant primarily addressed the reputation of New York for placing immense pressure on the athletes due to the relentless media scrutiny and attention from the fan base. But coming from a player expert in handling that arena for three seasons in NYC, the three-time All-Pro receiver doesn’t have too much to worry about.

But at the same time, given the spotlight the Jets have since the addition of Aaron Rodgers and the recent firing of Robert Saleh from the head coach position, all eyes are on them as they proceed in the season. This means Davante wouldn’t be spared the scrutiny despite it being his debut season with them.

Bill Belichick praises Jets’ acquisition of Davante Adams

While many pundits and analysts have been skeptical about New York’s move to acquire Adams, former head coach-turned-analyst applauded the decision. Considering it a sensible move, Bill Belichick believes this would take the burden off the shoulders of wide receiver Garrett Wilson and provide the Jets with two reliable targets on the field.

Either guy can play X, so it’s tough to cover over there on the weak side of it’s one-on-one. If you roll to him, that opens something else up and then you’ve got two good backs. So I think this could be a good thing.

With this addition to the offense, the Jets potentially crafted a formidable attacking force along with star running backs Breece Hall and Braelon Allen. But whether it’s actually effective would be seen in next week’s matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
