The 2024 NFL season hasn’t even started yet and the Washington Commanders’ rookie Jayden Daniels has grown a large fanbase. And the most shining addition is the NBA superstar Kevin Durant, who apart from his accolades on the basketball court is known for his deep interest in the NFL.

Born in Washington D.C., Durant had been waiting for quite some time for his favorite NFL team to draft a gem to save them following a bizarre 4-13 season end. His and every Commanders fan’s prayers came true when the franchise drafted Daniels using the second overall pick earlier this year. Counted among the top five quarterbacks of his batch, the rookie has now been given the huge responsibility to turn around the team’s fate.

During a recent appearance on Up & Adams by Kay Adams, amid his preparation for the Olympics, NBA star Durant expressed his confidence in the quarterback with high praise by comparing Daniels with himself.

I was a fan of the Heisman winner. He’s like the KD of college football with his body type. We feel like we got a player that could take us somewhere now… A guy that size that could move that well at that position, you tend to look at that body frame as like a wide receiver or skill position.
Kevin Durant said

The reason why the NBA superstar sees a glimpse of himself in the NFL rookie is because just like how he often plays like a guard due to having highly skilled hands, Daniels combines the perfect proportion of speediness and athleticism, becoming a dual-threat player.

Fans buzzing over Brandon Aiyuk and Jayden Daniels reunion rumors

While Daniels is lighting the lamp of hope in Washington fans’ hearts, the media headlines are flooded with the trade rumors of Brandon Aiyuk to the Commanders, thanks to the friendship of the rookie quarterback and the receiver. The two had great chemistry on the football field when they played together at Arizona State and coincidentally the Commanders are in search of a playmaking receiver.

The San Francisco 49ers’ receiver knows he has leverage in the contract negotiation with the swirling trade rumors, therefore he is giving plenty of material for fans to speculate. He even expressed that he is ready to explore options elsewhere if he didn’t land a deserving deal from the Niners.

Despite both the 49ers and Aiyuk dismissing the departure rumors, there is still no progress in the contract negotiation. Now with the training camp just around the corner, followed by preseason and finally the 2024 NFL regular season, sorting Aiyuk’s contract ought to be the biggest concern everywhere.
