The legacy of Tom Brady in professional football is no secret to anyone. Even kids on the street know, how desperate he was to win Super Bowls. The legendary quarterback won seven titles (Six with the New England Patriots and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers).

During his tenure in the league, the NFL crowd witnessed one of the best rivalries in the world between him and Peyton Manning. Before Brady made his start in the NFL, it was Joe Montana who had the most number of rings (four). With the success of Brady, everyone thought he was chasing Montana’s legacy. However, the legendary quarterback was never a target to Brady.

Julian Edelman, who played alongside Brady as a wide receiver (WR) made a shocking revelation about Tom Brady and his aspirations. During his time with the New England Patriots, Edelman witnessed Brady closely and like everyone, he also used to think it was Montana whom Brady was chasing. But one day, Brady cleared the air by saying he was not chasing Montana. There was someone else whom he was looking for?

Edelman revealed it was MJ. Michael Jordan, who won six rings in the NBA. In an interview with Bill Simmons, the former wide receiver revealed:

We both grew up in the Bay Area. So I knew, how close to home Joe Montana was to Tom. I wanted to help Tom pass Joe. You know, I was like Tom we are going to get four here, you are gonna pass Joe. We are going to do it. And, he looked me dead in the eyes, you got a death stare, and said, ‘I am not going for Montana. I am going for Jordan.’ And if you hear after 2018, I go ‘Jordan, Jordan, you got him.’

After the Chiefs managed to win their second Super Bowl title, Travis Kelce, the tight end said:

We would go for three-peat (Michael Jordan’s record of winning three consecutive championships). MJ (or his success) has been a constant benchmark for the footballers. Neither Brady nor Mahomes is an exception.
Travis Kelce said

Mahomes, however, will have some other targets as well. He will go for Tom Brady and his seven Super Bowl rings. He already has three. There are possibilities that he can win more than what Brady won. The NFL world will have keen eyes on whether he manages to win a three-peat in the next season.
