Ex-UFC stars (at least one) and pioneer gangsters Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal are at it again. ‘Last Man Standing’ goes down soon (Sat. Jul 6th, 2024) from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, where the duo meet. After the inaugural BMF gimmick, they now lock horns in a Fanmio Pay-per-view headliner boxing bout.

The 10-round, 175-pound matchup marks the return of ‘Gamebred’ to combat sports. The Stockton pride had already returned last year with the decision loss to Jake Paul. Additionally, with California being one of the few athletic commissions still demanding promoters provide payout tidbits, the digits are out. Nate Diaz leads the charge, but the combined amount between him and Masvidal might shock people.

Per CSAC, official contract purses for the Fanmio card: Nate Diaz $500k, Jorge Masvidal $300k; Daniel Jacobs $100k (guarantee is 100s k more), Shane Mosley Jr. $160k (Jacobs fined 20%/$20k for being overweight, half to Mosley, half to commission) (more) #DiazMasvidal #Boxing…

Premier boxing insider and reporter Dan Rafael (@DanRafael1) reported the deeds on his socials. Major outlets later got a hold of the list from the California State Athletic Commission. Per Rafael, Diaz, 39, banks a mammoth $500,000, while Jorge Masvidal makes $300,000. These do not include clinical deductions, royalties, perpetuity payouts, licensing fees, or anything else.

Interestingly, Anthony Pettis will make a supreme $350,000 to fight Diaz’s teammate, Chris Avila, on the undercard. Following his “The Baddest Tour” pre-fight conference in Miami, Masvidal said he’ll return to MMA soon. Still under a UFC contract, Masvidal mentioned at least to fulfill another conditional fight before sniffing the terrain. Perhaps the splintered condition is why he is making less.

Silent, expressionless gangsters Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal make weight

The rematch between Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal is a go, as both boxers made weight this Friday. Headling the Fanmio Pay-per-view 11-bout boxing card, this will be a rematch of their November 2019 MMA fight for the inaugural BMF belt. Masvidal won via third-round TKO at UFC 244 to grab the first historic silver.

The 39-year-old Masvidal went on a 0-4 bleed before calling it quits. He did veer to making a return, now in the form of a boxing debut. Turns out, unlike Diaz, he did not complete his UFC contractual binding and still has to fight whoever if he wants to continue in MMA. ‘Gamebred’ is very low on the pecking order at UFC.

Gilbert Burns, Kamaru Usman, and Colby Covington outclassed Masvidal the last time he entered the octagon. Hence, he is quite removed from the top echelon. If ‘Gamebred’ returns, he’ll have to face absolutely anybody and everybody, even unranked. So, it’s all eyes on boxing for now. But does he know that?

Diaz tipped the scale at 175.6 while he came in at 175.2 lbs – both men made the matter official with one final staredown. The faceoff before their light heavyweight boxing showdown was anything but “gangster,” as both looked on gruntingly. Expressionless, the gangsters made it weird. Lazy subterfuge or mind games? Come a few hours more, and one will come out on top anyway.
