Jon Jones took to X to jab at the UFC 304 co-main event fighters with a clear message. Jones flexed his long list of title accomplishments while dismissing the credibility of Blaydes and Aspinall. Moreover, he also combined his achievements with Stipe Miocic to insinuate the importance of their legacy fight. He insinuated that they had yet to capture UFC gold.

Jones is potentially set to fight Stipe Mocic. He remains one of the greatest in MMA history despite his controversial past. The heavyweight champion does not acknowledge the credibility of Aspinall and has used X to downplay the British fighter at every turn. As such, he does not expect Aspinall to defeat Blaydes in their upcoming showdown.

This jab at Aspinall’s perceived overconfidence is a familiar narrative in combat sports. Many a promising prospect have fallen victim to their hype, only to be humbled by a seasoned veteran. Jones seemed to believe Blaydes had more chance to defeat Aspinall than people give him credit for. Jones’ comments have undoubtedly added fuel to the brewing rivalry between him and Aspinall.
