Jon Jones has cemented his place as one of the UFC’s big draw, proving his immense star power in recent events. Fans are now clamoring for a heavyweight unification fight between Jones and Tom Aspinall, creating immense excitement online. However, Jones has made it clear he’s only willing to return if the fight guarantees the largest paycheck possible.
Recently, during one of his podcasts, UFC commentator Joe Rogan discussed Jones’s position and a possible $30 million fight purse. UFC legend Daniel Cormier reviewed this on his YouTube channel and shared his disapproval. According to DC, despite the stakes, Jones might not get that much money from the UFC.
Daniel Cormier shared his own experience as a former heavyweight champion and how much he earned from the UFC. While DC and Jones’ popularity and superstar levels are different, the negotiation system is still the same for all. CEO Dana White has already promised fans that the fight between Jones and Aspinall will take place in 2025.
🤔Daniel Cormier doesn’t believe the UFC will pay Jon Jones $30 million to fight Tom Aspinall:
“I’ll tell you guys, as someone who has been involved in big fights, $30 million was a world away from what we were making…
But if you’re asking for $30 million and end up with $20… pic.twitter.com/Y8HYdkGIok

Aspinall has been waiting for this title shot for a long time and understands Jones’ plan to lobby himself. Jones, at the age of 37, believes that his days in the octagon are limited and wants to make the most out of it. The fighter has already started to spread his reach over other ventures such as acting in a Netflix project.
UFC veteran proposes Jon Jones fighting with both Tom Aspinall and Alex Pereira
Jon Jones never wanted to fight Tom Aspinall and has repeatedly shut down his call-outs. The heavyweight champion didn’t want to do business with Aspinall citing the fighter’s disrespectful comments and lack of popularity. On the other hand, the heavyweight champion was always motivated to fight Alex Pereira in a major heavyweight clash.
Alex Pereira is one of the biggest pay-per-view stars, who had an incredible 2024 season and has shown interest in this super fight. UFC veteran Michael Bisping recently talked about this on his YouTube channel and shared his solution. As a fellow countryman, Bisping wants Jones to give Aspinall his title opportunity and then move on to the Brazilian.
Nobody knows how many more fights Jon Jones has in his tank and how long he wishes to stay active. If he manages to get anything around the rumored $30 million, it won’t be surprising to see him hand his gloves. On the other hand, Aspinall does have a great opportunity to beat Jones and take his position as one of the biggest draws in the promotion.
