Jude Bellingham‘s brother, Jobe Bellingham has completed his transfer from Birmingham City to Sunderland for an unspecified sum. The talented 17-year-old midfielder played 22 times in the Championship this season as a regular for John Eustace’s team. He departs the Birmingham outfit at the same age as his brother Jude Bellingham, who left for Borussia Dortmund three years ago.
The Bellingham family had a wonderful day since Jobe and Jude both finished their transfers on the same day. Earlier today, Jude Bellingham signed a contract finalizing his move to Real Madrid for an initial sum of £88.5 million. According to sources, Sunderland and the younger Bellingham were near to settling on a price of roughly £1.5 million with add-ons.
Bellingham said, “I’m delighted to sign for Sunderland AFC and I can’t wait to get started. The opportunity for young players to move here and progress is clear, so I believe this is the perfect Club for me to continue my development. I’m grateful to everyone at Birmingham City for their support over the past 11 years and I wish them the best for the future, as I begin the next chapter of my career at the Stadium of Light.”
The child prodigy spent 11 years with Birmingham. He is now working alongside Kristjaan Speakman, Mike Dodds, and Stuart English again at Sunderland. The Birmingham midfielder joins a Wearside squad that is on the rise after Sunderland finished sixth after receiving promotion from League One. Birmingham City, on the other hand, has had a rough few years after spending the previous seven Championship seasons in the bottom half.
Jude Bellingham’s Madrid transfer boosts Birmingham City
According to reports, Birmingham will get a windfall of at least £4.3 million as a result of Jude Bellingham’s move to Real Madrid. This will provide Birmingham with a much-needed financial boost. The Spanish giants paid Borussia Dortmund £113 million on Tuesday, and the Championship club celebrated the acquisition of their academy product.
Birmingham should collect close to £30 million for the 19-year-old England sensation after accounting for the first transfer to Dortmund. The Bellingham charge would be beneficial to Blues as they work to adhere to Financial Fair Play regulations. In 2020, after the player’s breakout season in the Championship, Dortmund purchased him for £25 million.
Bellingham became the youngest player for the Birmingham outfit in August 2019. He made 44 appearances for the club. The club later retired his 22-numbered jersey. There also is a small mural dedicated to him at Birmingham’s stadium.
