As the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season draws closer, all eyes have been fixed on the top basketball stars and their teams. However, for the likes of LeBron James, Anthony Edwards and Jayson Tatum, their journey last year is set to be documented. This latest project to showcase their lives on and off the court is a new sports series organized by Netflix.

While announcing the documentary involving them, Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum added his fellow players to a group chat. A video shared on social media shows the moment Tatum informed the others of the program. In the clip, the NBA champion is seen adding James, Anthony Edwards, Jimmy Butler, and Domantas Sabonis to a group. Following that, he proceeded to text them: โ€œLast season was a movie! Yโ€™all ready to run it back in October?โ€, to which they all replied affirmatively.

The new documentary by streaming giant Netflix, โ€˜Starting Fiveโ€™, is a 10-part series providing a behind-the-scenes look at the five top NBA players. It features LeBron James, Jimmy Butler of the Miami Heat, Edwards, Domantas Sabonis of the Sacramento Kings, and Tatum. Furthermore, it has been revealed all ten 45-minute episodes of Starting Five will premiere on Netflix on Oct. 9, 2024.

Nonetheless, the basketball stars will have their eyes set on the upcoming season. Tatum is set to defend the NBA championship with the Boston Celtics, after a historic win last season. On his part, James will be looking to help the Lakers mount a challenge for the title again. The 39-year-old will also be playing alongside his son, Bronny James in his rookie year. Edwards on the other hand, has his eyes set on helping the Timberwolves in the Western Conference after a successful Olympics.

LeBron James has come a long way since his debut in the league, inspiring lots of people and even kids. Jayson Tatum happens to be one of the persons inspired by the Los Angeles player. He previously mentioned that he was a fan of James and even shared a story from his childhood.

The story is focused around the year the 4-time NBA champion turned a young Tatum down for an autograph. He recalled Larry Hughes playing on the Cleveland Cavaliers team alongside James. At the time, Hughes was friends with Tatumโ€™s dad. 11-year-old Tatum went to see the game and wanted to meet James and ask for his autograph. Unfortunately, James left without signing it which made him to shed tears.

With Tatum already going to games at such a young age, it likely influenced his choice to become a pro player. Moreover, he was a fan of James himself from back then. Now, it is safe to say heโ€™s had more than what an autograph could give him. Tatum has played with the veteran as Team USA teammates and won a gold medal together.
