Jared Cannonier‘s last fight was a main-event matchup against Marvin Vettori at UFC Vegas 75. ‘The Killa Gorilla’ defeated #5 middleweight Vettori via unanimous decision. However, he was not satisfied with the commentary team discrediting his performance. Cannonier went on a rant ahead of his upcoming fight against Nassourdine Imavov.

Jared Cannonier recently sat down for a conversation on Just Scrap Radio on BJPENN.com. During his discussion with host Cole Shelton, Cannonier expressed his dissatisfaction with the UFC commentary team.

Even the commentary overshadowed my performance with the fact that he was just getting his a** whooped. Using the word tough, and I think that’s st*pid.

Cannonier went on a rant saying that he got sick and tired of hearing the commentary praise his opponents when they were clearly losing. He argued that taking shots and not being able to defend themselves meant that his opponent was not good at the offensive and defensive skills required for MMA. Instead, the commentary team praised his opponents for “being tough.”

Cannonier said that a lot of people tend to overlook him because he does not do a lot of trash-talking. ‘The Killa Gorilla’ does not pull off extravagant moves like painting faces or putting on colorful hair to garner attention. However, he promises to show up in his fights and keep putting on better and better performances.

Cannonier’s last fight against Marvin Vettori was a main-event fight. However, he had a layoff for almost a year now and is coming back for another main event this June against Nassourdine Imavov. Host Cole Shelton asked Cannonier if ‘The Killa Gorilla’ expected a main event fight on his return or if he would rather prefer three-round fights.

No, I like main events. We get main event money. So I don’t mind that extra 25k to hit up for another two rounds. On top of that, my condition is never an issue. I can’t say the same for my opponent. It seems like he’s gotten tired slowed down in some of his fights.

Even though he has been off for a year, Cannonier believes his cardio is on point. He added that being on main event matchups feels like being put on a pedestal so he likes it. He promised to show something new and better this time in Louisville, Kentucky.
