Ivan Toney trashes FA for the 'spiteful' eight-month ban for betting

The following paragraph discusses the importance of regular exercise and its impact on physical and mental health. Exercise is not only beneficial for maintaining a healthy weight but also for reducing the risk of various chronic diseases and improving overall well-being. Studies have shown that regular physical activity can also alleviate stress and anxiety, improve mood, and boost cognitive function. Therefore, incorporating exercise into one’s daily routine is crucial for achieving optimal health and wellness.

The Brentford striker Ivan Toney has recently made comments on the Football Association (FA) which is currently handling the investigation of gambling breaches in which he was involved. Ivan, in the interview, also expressed his ambition to play for England in the 2026 World Cup.

The Brentford forward who made his spot in the third position in the list of highest goal scorers in the Premier League, faced an eight months ban with a fine of £50,000 ($62,850) after breaching 232 rules of the Football Association, which also included betting on matches he played.

The Premier League goal machine was charged with the ban back in November as a result of which he missed out on his spot in England’s main squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. And now the player is targeting to play in the 2026 World Cup for England.

“People try to break people down,” the Brit hinted at foul play when he appeared on the Kick Game YouTube channel. “How it come out, just before the England camp, obviously missing out on the World Cup… In a way, it was kind of like: ‘Get out now so you don’t go [away with] England’‘,” he added.

Ivan Toney added with a tone mixed with frustration and calm admission, “And then all of a sudden they want to wait until the end of the season… But it is what it is. They wanted to do it that way. I call it a bit spiteful. You just have to get on with it. I feel that was a bigger punishment, even though I am missing eight months of football. That was a bigger punishment, missing out on the World Cup. It’s everybody’s dream. I believe in myself and hopefully, I can be at the next one.”

After getting banned for eight months from playing football. Ivan Toney is already targeting his spot in England’s squad for the 2026 World Cup after missing the World Cup in Qatar. However, he cannot represent Brentford until January 16, 2024, which will be a huge blow to his Euro 2024 aspirations as well.

However, he can come back to training during the last four months of his ban. Ivan assured his fans and his teammates that he will come back stronger and would make a major impact.

Ivan added, “The support is good, but how I am, I don’t want anyone to feel sorry for me. I have done what I done before, the punishment is the punishment and get on with it. Like I said I just have to focus on when I come back training. I want to be a different animal when I come back. It’s going to be frightening.”
