There was a time when Tom Aspinall was adamant about getting a title fight against Jon Jones. However, that does not exist anymore. The interim heavyweight champion has made peace with the fact that he may hang up his gloves without facing off against one of the best heavyweight fighters in UFC history.
Tom Aspinall recently sat down for a conversation on the โmaineventโ YouTube channel. During their discussion, Aspinall talked about the probability of a showdown with Jon Jones. Interestingly, the interim champion has given up the idea of clashing with โBonesโ in the octagon.
No. It’s not gonna happen, mate. It’s not happening. I’m not bothered about it.

Aspinall said that he would โabsolutely loveโ to take that fight. He has made it pretty obvious that it was the fight that he wanted. However, โHoney Badgerโ believes he was โshooting in the dark with that one.โ There was absolutely nothing going on in terms of setting up a showdown.
Aspinall is gearing up for a showdown this July at UFC 304. It will be a title defense for the interim heavyweight championship. Jon Jones has been out for a year after claiming the vacant heavyweight title. Meanwhile, Tom Aspinall has been stuck in his position too. โBonesโ is adamant that he would take on Stipe Miocic which means he would not entertain any other matchup for a while now. Thus, the Brit is stuck defending his interim title against former opponent Curtis Blaydes.
Tom Aspinall wants revenge against Curtis Blaydes
Tom Aspinall and Curtis Blaydes will headline the co-main event in Manchester. Aspinall and Blaydes met back in 2022 at UFC London. Aspinall suffered a knee injury just 15 seconds into that fight which resulted in a TKO loss. It was the only upset in his UFC career since his debut.
Aspinall recently did an interview with TNT Sports. There he said that he was much better than the last time the two met in the octagon. His training and skill level have been way different, claiming to be โso much better nowโ. โHoney Badgerโ believes he is the best in the world and is ready to fix the one blemish on his record.
Iโve got losses before I got in the UFC but I was a kid then, that was a young kid. This one, Iโm like, I want to get this one back.

The Brit acknowledged that anything could happen in heavyweight MMA. However, he claimed he โknewโ that he was better than Curtis Blaydes and he did not like the fact that he had beaten him. UFC 304 seems to have the potential to be an exciting showdown. Moreover, it will be interesting to see who walks away with a probable Jon Jones title fight later down the line.
