Legacy fights are a big thing in the UFC. Fighters usually dream about these potential fights. Alex Pereira could potentially be up for a legacy-defining super fight. The reigning light heavyweight king admitted he was caught off guard by Jon Jones‘ social media proclamations. He, however, remained intrigued by the opportunity.

MMA Junkie recently interviewed Alex Pereira. He revealed that Jon Jones’ statement had caught him off guard. He showcased his respect for Jones and was open to the idea of fighting him. Pereira believed this could be a massive fight for himself and the UFC.

It would be a war. It would be a very entertaining showcase for the fans. With all the experience and skillset that Jon has, but also with all the abilities I’ve been growing during my MMA career, all the preparation I’ve been doing and the improvements I’m having. I think it would be a great championship (fight) and everyone would be entertained by that.

Jones had recently shown interest in a potential fight against Alex Pereira. He revealed that being back in the gym and training had restarted the competitive fire in him. Jones believed that he would want to fight Pereira next. This would be after his fight with Stipe Miocic, with both Jones and ‘Poatan’ vying to see who is the best.

The Brazilian knockout artist understood the magnitude of squaring off against one of MMA’s all-time greats. He kept his expectations grounded and relished the prospect of an action-packed battle for the ages. Poatan vowed to prepare well for the career-defining challenge if given the green light.

The saga of Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall took another dramatic turn recently. Jones recently floated a potential showdown against the light heavyweight king Alex Pereira. This frustrated the interim champion, and Aspinall couldn’t hide his exasperation at being overlooked yet again.

Jones has notoriously shunned facing the Englishman despite his interim title status. Aspinall understandably felt annoyed when ‘Bones’ revealed his intention to fight Pereira. Aspinall took to X to air his grievances over Jones’ comments. He posted a picture of Jones with a whimsical expression. This was in response to Jones’ comments that Aspinall was only famous in the UK while Pereira was a worldwide star.

The whole point of the interim title is to be the next person to face the champion. Logically, fighting Aspinall should be Jones’ next step. However, Jones would fight Miocic next and Aspinall is left without a chance to unify the belts. Moreover, Aspinall is also set to fight at UFC 304 in Manchester against an undisclosed opponent.
