The manager of the Dagestani champion expressed his confidence as he put out series of tweets in support of Makhachev. He was the first to put out a proposal for Poirier and Makhachev’s showdown. Islam Makhachev had been away for a while but has returned for an intense fight year. He chose Poirier as his first target as the two went back and forth on social media for the build-up of this fight. UFC CEO, Dana White declared the matchup officially at the UFC 300 post-fight press conference.

Ali Abdelaziz hypes up Dustin Poirier vs. Islam Makhachev in a hilarious tweet

Ali Abdelaziz is not the best when it comes to the English language. Khabib Nurmagomedov’s former manager described Makhachev as a ‘giant Pacific octopus’ in his latest tweet on X. His broken English amused a lot of fans in the comment section.

Dustin has already fought Makhachev’s mentor, Khabib Nurmagomedov. The two clashed in 2019 at UFC 242. Poirier got choked out by Khabib in the third round of the fight. The UFC veteran has fought three title fights in his long eclectic career. The closest he came was the interim championship when he beat Max Holloway right before the Khabib fight.

Many consider Makhachev to be even more dangerous than Nurmagomedov. The Dagestani champion has already made two title defenses against featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski. It will be interesting to see how this fight turns out this June at UFC 302.
