Gilbert Arenas is known for unusual takes in and around the NBA community. Interestingly, Arenas has caught the attention of the NBA fans recently. His recent comments on the former USA presidentโs self-titled podcast have gone viral. Not only that, Arenas also spoke about his rise to stardom in his early NBA days.
Arenasโ podcast had an intriguing incident regarding his connection with the city of Washington, D.C. He stated that he obtainedย Madame Tussaudโs wax figure in Washington, D.C., before then-President Barack Obama. The former NBA player was quite overjoyed about how this came about.
I got the statue. I was the third NBA athlete to get immortalized…ย I beat out (Barack) Obama. Me and Obama got picked, and then they gave him one day, and the city switched it and said Gilbert (Arenas) was here first.

Arenas may be exaggerating here, but it is difficult to overstate his popularity in the late 2000s. Arenas was a frequent All-Star who established the Wizards as a postseason contender. His tremendous scoring ability helped him become one of the leagueโs most popular players. For him to have his own Madame Tussaudโs wax figure is a clear example of his popularity back in the day.
However, things went downhill for Arenas during the 2007-08 season due to injuries. That had a significant impact on his athletic abilities and scoring performance. In addition, Arenasโ career swiftly faded, leaving the NBA after four years and retiring from the sport entirely the following year.
Gilbert Arenas makes a huge claim regarding Michael Jordan
Michael Jordan enthusiasts always refer to his six championships. Also, his immaculate Finals record is proof that LeBron James will never topple him as the greatest of all time. However, another former NBA star, Gilbert Arenas, belongs on the other side of the boat. He doesnโt think Jordan is the GOAT and has always argued for his beliefs.
They gave Jordan the GOAT in ’89-’90 with not one championship, You broke the code and said, ‘None of this sh** matters,’ so stop using it then because you didn’t use it when you removed Kareem, you didn’t use it when Bill Russell got moved, you didn’t use that sh** against Magic Johnson and Bird.

On the other side, LeBron James eclipsed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBAโs all-time scoring leader, demonstrating unmatched longevity. In addition, Arenas also stated that MJ supporters cannot use his โchampionshipsโ gimmick against James. As such, the two stars are in a bracket of their own.
The GOAT debate has always been polarizing, to say the least. Jordan vs. LeBron will always have a different opinion. One is the all-time scoring leader whereas the other had 10x scoring titles. Longevity vs. accolades cannot be calculated or measured. As such, the debate will rage on amongst the fanbase.
