“I’m sick and tired of waiting for another gold!” Jake Paul announces to fight for USA at 2028 Olympics

Jake Paul has announced his intention to compete in boxing at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. Paul was frustrated with the recent lack of Olympic gold medals for Team USA in boxing. Therefore, ‘The Problem Child’ has decided to take matters into his own hands.

Jake Paul revealed his plans for the Olympics on his podcast, BS with Jake Paul. The young boxer acknowledged that this would require several more years of dedication and effort in the sport. However, he expressed the determination to extend his boxing career to achieve his goal.

I’m going to enter the 2028 Olympics for boxing in Los Angeles. I’m sick and tired of waiting around, waiting for another gold for team USA, so not retiring. I definitely, probably, just added a couple more years under my boxing career because of that, but Los Angeles, United States, sick as f***.

Paul’s announcement has been met with skepticism. Particularly given that his boxing career has primarily involved fights against MMA fighters rather than seasoned boxers. Critics doubted his ability to compete against the level of competition found at the Olympics. Moreover, Paul needs to be made aware that he can’t pick and choose his opponents in the Olympics. He will also have to fight against opponents his age or much younger.

The only proper competition Paul faced was against Tommy Fury. ‘El Gallo’ lost the fight via split decision after a grueling set of eight rounds in the cruiserweight division. Thus, the Olympics is now on the list of Paul’s ambitious goals and it will be interesting to see how he goes about it. However, it is highly unlikely that he will make it through the selection process for the Olympic Games.

Jake Paul wants to fight Canelo Alvarez

Jake Paul has also expressed a strong desire to fight Canelo Alvarez. ‘The Problem Child’ sees it as a significant milestone in his boxing career. Paul has been vocal about wanting to make this fight happen. He believes it is a way to prove that he is one of the greatest sports stories ever.

Jake Paul has faced various opponents in the boxing ring. However, he declared a while back that they were with the intention of eventually stepping up to face Alvarez. Paul has also referred to the Mexican boxing legend as his “final boss.” He acknowledges that he is not yet at the level to defeat Canelo but believes that with more experience and fights under his belt, he could put on a competitive bout against the boxing legend.
