The never-ending saga between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler has been a story everyone wishes to end soon. It has been almost two years since the verbal agreements between McGregor and Chandler came to notice. However, there’s still a lot of uncertainty around that fight. Interestingly, recently, the ‘Iron’ revealed he is putting out the ‘Notorious’ for good if he gets the chance.

The fight between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler has faced several obstacles over the last year. First, it was the USADA issue and was followed by a broken pinky toe of the Notorious. These continuous delays have ultimately taken a toll on the Iron. As such, in a recent interview with Beat The Heat, Chandler was seen fired up talking about McGregor.

I’m not gonna ever play the victim…It’s more just with all due respect, I’m ready to put you behind me. I’m ready to put you flat on your back in the middle of an octagon wherever it is, hopefully Las Vegas, Nevada. And I can walk out of that octagon and never have to think about you again. I can just ride the coattails of the eyeballs that were there that night.

Chandler’s words depict how eager he is to beat McGregor after waiting out for two years. On the other hand, the Irishman also seemed ready, as he recently posted a video of him training. Not only that, even the UFC CEO Dana White recently teased about the fight again. Interestingly, there were several other fighters as well who wanted to snub the American fighter from fighting.

Most recently, Dan ‘Hangman’ Hooker openly expressed his desire to take on the Irishman. It is worth noting that the fight was delayed due to several issues with McGregor. Meanwhile, Chandler had no trouble during this 2-year time. Interestingly, ‘Iron’ also mentioned during this period that the UFC offered him other fighters as well. However, he decided to wait out for the McGregor fight.

Michael Chandler reveals he ignored other fight offers to fight Conor McGregor

It has been almost three years since the Notorious Conor McGregor returned to the UFC octagon. As for Chandler, his last fight was against Dustin Poirier at UFC 281 back in November 2022. Even though both fighters were inactive for such a long period, they had clear minds about who they wanted to fight next.

Chandler, in particular, also had several other fight offers to fight and avoid such a long inactivity. However, in a recent interview, Iron revealed that he did not want to do that. Per Chandler, McGregor holds a great influence among the audience and can generate huge PPVs.

I could have taken another fight. I still right now call UFC and say, give me another fight, they’ll do it. When you get into a sport of mixed martial arts, obviously you want to win. But you also want the biggest stages, the brightest lights, and the biggest platforms. This fight checks all those boxes

According to Chandler, nobody can give that massive fight in the UFC right now except McGregor. However, it remains to be seen when will the official announcement be out. As for the American lightweight and the Notorious, both wants to fight in the coming December at UFC 310.
