LeBron James has not only created a GOAT-esque legacy while on the basketball court. He also made lifelong friends in the form of Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Paul among others. That quartet is famously known as the โ€˜banana boat crew.โ€™ Now, with the Los Angeles Lakers superstarโ€™s son,ย Bronny James,ย in the NBA, the door opens for the rookie to create his own crew.

Coverage around LeBron James and his son has increased since the Lakers drafted Bronny. Now, a new generation โ€˜banana boat crewโ€™ might come to life. Who better than if it happens to be a family friend? Kiyan Anthony, the son of the 3-time Olympic gold medalist, had this to say to Brandon โ€˜Scoop Bโ€™ Robinson;

It just shows that anybody could do it. Iโ€™m coming up next, and I could do it. Definitely happy for him and definitely congratulations to him.

Even though Carmelo Anthonyโ€™s son was congratulating James Jr., he stated his intentions to join the NBA soon. Kiyan Anthony has yet to decide which college he will play for in the 2025 NCAA season. He is part of an elite class. He is ranked 40th in the ESPN 100 despite being graded as a 4-star recruit, just like James Jr. was. But James Jr. had a horrible season in college, which caused him to drop down to No. 55.

Anthony, on the other hand, can develop into a true 1st round pick if he develops his game. He and the world are witnessing how the Los Angeles Lakers rookie has to work on his game to make up for that lack of development in college. Lessons learned could be valuable for his future.

Bronny James is working out to improve his skills

When Bronny James declared for the NBA Draft, many advised against it. Their logic was that his game was not good enough for the NBA. It seems he has taken that advice to heart as he goes around the country to work on his game. He was recently seen working with trainer Chris Johnson.

His work mostly consisted of mid-range pull-ups, working on his fadeaways, and working in shorter clock situations. He practiced those against NBA stars Talen Horton-Tucker and Darius Garland to get a feel for NBA-level defense. All of this work will help him eventually overcome his stunted development from that disastrous time at USC.

If only his then-head coach used his skills on the perimeter more efficiently, Bronny James could have developed faster. Maybe the work he is putting in now will help him erase the nepotism tags he is carrying around now.
