Charles Barkley, the Hall of Fame basketball player, was frequently embroiled in controversy when he was on the court. While Barkley was a member of the Houston Rockets in 1997, he encountered trouble off the court. At an Orlando bar, he got into a nasty fight. Chuck got into a fistfight with Jorge, a twenty-year-old construction worker, and tossed him out of the bar’s window.

After this altercation, Barkley was taken into custody, and Clyde Drexler, a teammate, had to post a hefty bail of $6000 to free him. The NBA eventually got involved as this situation was being resolved and gave Barkley a deadline to employ security guards to prevent fights in public areas like clubs and pubs.

It was 1997 and there was a video of Barkley talking to a reporter and explaining the situation. He said:

But if I get arrested it’s embarrassing to the league no matter what anybody says to me. I will not be baited. If somebody throws a drink at me. I’ve got to let somebody else handle it.

The LA Times reported in 1997 that the NBA had asked Barkley to retire or hire security guards. After Jorge allegedly hurled two mugs of ice at Barkley and his buddies, there was a confrontation. Barkley conveyed his distress to the league after the altercation.

Chuck threw a New Year’s Eve celebration for about 400 guests on December 31, 2008. Barkley was pulled over by the police on New Year’s Eve. He threw a huge party. And because he had been partying earlier in the evening. He was driving home when he lost his mind and ran a stop sign in front of the cops.

He was driving under the influence when he ran a stop sign. Pete Smith, an East Valley DUI Task Force Officer, saw Barkley’s black Infiniti QX56. Defying the traffic law and promptly pulled it over. However, Smith knew right away that Charles Barkley was the driver when he went to look for him. After this, Sir Barkley started to smell like vodka and realized he was in big danger.

TNT had employed him for eight years when he called the channel president from the police station to inform him of his detention. Barkley would probably prefer that folks stay indoors on New Year’s Day out of caution. It appears that he did not always have the greatest of intentions.
