On the 29th of April, 2023, Conor McGregor attended BKFC 41, with Mike Perry and Luke Rockhold as the headliners. The Irishman fell in love with everything the promotion offered. Ever since McGregor has lobbied for an equity part of his role as an MMA promoter. This has come true. Now, BKFC President David Feldman is hoping the superstar even keeps a more hands-on fighting role. One big bare-knuckle fight he has in mind — Floyd Mayweather.
Conor McGregor and his McGregor Sports & Entertainment announced their needle-moving equity ownership during the BKFC “KnuckleMania” 4 headliner broadcast. Ever since, he has kept a keen interest in the workings and fight cards. ‘The Notorious’ will be in Marbella, Spain this weekend for BKFC on DAZN: Spain. In an exclusive interview with Bloody Elbow, David Feldman weighed in on his future in the promotion.
Speaking to MMA Junkie’s Danny Segura, Feldman once wished his superstardom transitioned big to BKFC. With a love of the characteristic bravado in bare-knuckle brawl, the former 2x UFC champ has also shown interest. The rumor mill has it that UFC keeps McGregor locked up for a new billion-dollar broadcasting rights deal. However, without a return, he told media scrum at the latest DANZ PPV in Wembley that free agency was his current goal.
If he does get to opt for free agency after the last two contractual bouts, he can very well take his talents to BKFC neighbors. Nothing would compare to a ‘Money’ fight against Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather. The one-time The Money Fight: Mayweather Jr. vs. McGregor, 2017 crossover is the biggest hit to date. 50-0 legend Floyd Mayweather alone banked an ROI of $275 million, with 4.3 million PPV buys and a $55 million live gate. Another brazen matchup would be one for the ages.
David Feldman talks more things Conor McGregor and BKFC global destinations
Saturday night will see an array of talented fighters get their chance to show off their skills. Danny Christie, infamous for his all-action style, will be there. As well as Dan “Indian Spice” Chapman, who David Feldman bills as “BKFC’s Floyd Mayweather”. A lot of fighters will have free reign and an open field to shine at BKFC on DAZN: Spain.
With the explosion of BKFC in Spain, Feldman is determined to continue the growth of the organization. He has some prime locales for it in the pipeline.
Feldman noted equal excitement about other stuff as well. For one – ex-boxing world champion, Hannah Rankin makes a BKFC debut. Additionally, if a relationship between one Conor McGregor and the majority shareholder Triller TV. wasn’t enough, his circle is also getting into BKFC. Oscar Willis, content manager for ‘The Mac Life’ (@TheMacLife) — McGregor’s MMA news outlet, is making his BKFC debut in Spain.
With McGregor and Co. joining in big-time, BKFC expanding to Ireland is also a major possibility. If ‘Mac’ were to give his back and shed some skin in open fist scraps any soon, he’d also have major build-up in the process. UFC lightweight Dan Hooker plans to be in Spain to call McGregor out. Jeremy Stephens has also been vying for the challenge from before his win at BKFC 65 at Maverik Center in Salt Lake City. So all things are looking up for BKFC right now.
