The Bucks faithful celebrated their acquisition of Damian Lillard after weeks of his trade. He was greeted with the same kindness and affection that had been shown to Giannis Antetokounmpo everywhere he visited. The Bucks are now strong favorites to win the Larry O’Brien Trophy this season with Lillard’s arrival. However, the 33-year-old received something else and had a different experience with the Bucks.
Despite having a 37-21 record, they are the Eastern Conference’s third seed. Lillard became used to being the Portland Trail Blazers‘ first offensive option before the Bucks acquired him. That’s not the situation when Giannis Antetokounmpo is playing next to you.
During an interview with Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, Lillard discussed his adjustment to Milwaukee. He said,
I thought we was going to be how Boston is right now. But I think what I’ve learned is that some things take time, especially stuff that has rewards in the end. You can’t come into it and think that it’s just going to be all peaches and cream. We’ve had our ups and downs. We’ve had a coaching change. I haven’t completely settled in to finding who am I on this team. And that’s kind of a tough thing.
Lillard said that he had anticipated Milwaukee’s success to mirror that of Boston at this time. To sum up, though, the Bucks’ season wasn’t great. It was not an established team that Dame came to. There was a new coach, a different playing philosophy, new players, and most importantly, the much-awaited Lillard-Antetokounmpo dream pair.

Although he filed for divorce from his college love, Kay’La Lillard, during this time, the move has been “tough” for the star. Speaking with Sports Illustrated, he conveyed his emotions.

It’s definitely lonely because I’m such a family guy. My life is my family. After games, I would come out and my whole family would be back there.
Now, Lillard and his ex-wife are going through a contentious divorce, with the wife requesting sole custody of their three kids. She has even disclosed details suggesting the basketball player is not the father he presents himself to be on social media.
Damian Lillard admits that life in Milwaukee is ‘lonely’ and he doesn’t ‘have much of a life.’

Damian Lillard’s chances of winning a championship have increased since joining the Bucks, but it has not been an easy adjustment. He has already mentioned how difficult it is to be apart from his children, who reside in Portland with their mother.
