In recent years, there have been instances of UFC fighters getting into altercations with random strangers. One such incident involved a former UFC middleweight champion in New Zealand a few months ago. Israel Adesanya recently discussed the details of his altercation in a podcast episode with UFC commentator Joe Rogan.
During the recent Joe Rogan Experience episode, Israel Adesanya and Rogan discussed a range of intriguing topics. It ranged from Adesanya’s UFC career to current world controversies to rivalry with Alex Pereira, among other things. While discussing those, Israel Adesanya also shared details of a recent highly buzzed street altercation.
The incident occurred a month ago in New Zealand when Izzy was out for a quick snack break. According to Adesanya, a random stranger tried to provoke him without any reason. Not only that, he was even racially abused by that individual. Although Izzy didn’t do anything about it immediately, hours later, his statement resurfaced. The middleweight fighter stated his wish to press charges against that individual.
While discussing this with Joe Rogan on the podcast, Adesanya stated that any other fighter would have thrashed the individual immediately. However, Israel Adesanya didn’t react that way, so he kept him calm. Even despite the two consecutive losses, Adesanya has kept calm. As such, he recently discussed what happens next in his fighting career.
Israel Adesanya gives out a timeline for his upcoming fight
The ‘Last Stylebender’ is arguably one of the most successful middleweight champions in UFC history. His illustrious career record and resume depict his achievements in the promotion. However, Izzy’s current trajectory in the promotion is quite concerning. Adesanya has suffered consecutive defeats in his last two outings.
Adesanya was soundly defeated by Sean Strickland at UFC 293 and lost his middleweight crown. Recently, he fought his African compatriot Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 305. Despite being considered superior due to his technical prowess, he failed to meet expectations. Following that defeat, he initially considered taking a break but later changed his mind.
Adesanya is confident that UFC CEO Dana White will reach out to him soon for a fight. Because of this, Izzy is back to his training schedule and working hard to become his best self again. That being said, now it remains to be seen when the UFC CEO decides to book Adesanya for a fight again. It is rumored that UFC will return to Australia in February. As such, Adesanya could fight on the card if things go to plan.
