Jon Jones defended his heavyweight title for the first time in November of 2024 and is now scouting opportunities. Jones is now 2-0 at the UFC 265-pound limit with a TKO victory over UFC legend Stipe Miocic. There are not many options other than interim champion Tom Aspinall. Podcaster and UFC commentator Joe Rogan said he knows the sum of such a mega fight.

The third-round spinning back-kick TKO over Miocic was Jon Jones’ second highlight at heavyweight limits. Now, “Bones” is highly against unification bout and wants to be compensated in “f—k you” amounts of money for it. Otherwise, he said a local Brit like Tom Aspinall does not do much for his legacy. Speaking on the Joe Rogan Experience, titular host Joe Rogan shed some light on it.

I think [next] it’s gonna be Aspinall..They, they….they are trying to come to some sort of agreement…The rumor is that…that, he wants $30 million, …I hope they [UFC] pay it.

Aspinall is a clear contender to be Jones’ next challenge. The British heavyweight made a rare defense of the UFC interim strap as well, winning via first-round KO at UFC 304 PPV. He is 3-0 since his 2022 injury TKO at UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs. Aspinall. Hence, even promotional CEO Dana White has said this is the clear match to make.

In the face of his UFC 309 pay-per-view title win, even others like Jon Anik have supported this mega-money plea. Joe Rogan goes the same route. As it happens, Jones might need that fighter compensation against Aspinall. As rumor has it – ‘GOAT things’ in UFC/MMA do not translate to overall athleticism. Additionally, the 37-year-old isn’t really blooming in the years ahead.

The Hoop Loop: UFC champ Jon Jones does the impossible (the other way around) at a recent Knicks game

By no means is the highly-touted “Bones” low on dough. But it helps that he is pairing against big names like Tom Aspinall and even Alex Pereira. ‘Poatan’ is the Charles ‘Mask’ Lewis Fighter of The Year after his triple-KO barrage. He is the largest name on search domains and remains a bigger global sensation.

GOAT can even levy big bucks of $100k in just his late 30s for house calls and parties. But that does not mean he won’t wither away in the sporting world when there’s a bigger fish. As Liam Neeson said – there is always a bigger fish!

Hypothetically, if one had to give odds on Jon Jones on the basketball court at MSG. He gets four shots from 3-point range and all he has to do is hit … anything other than ‘ground.’ He could graze the rim or put a slight and nearly hoop off the backboard.

Maybe -10,000 odds? A +6000 comeback for him hitting four airballs? It would have been wild to think that in four shots he would come up null! It is exactly what transpired (H/T Bleacher Report) at a New York Knicks vs. Utah Jazz game on New Year’s Day! With superior MMA range management, “Bones” shot four and missed four by long!

Subsequently, Knicks guard Josh Hart hazed him to at least touch or reach the rim. It’s not in the gene pool even though Jones’ brothers are longtime NFL players. ‘Grandpa’ Miocic has him beat. He sportingly threw the first pitch for Cleveland Guardians, topping off the Chicago White Sox by 7-6, accurately.
