"His ego will never let him" - LeBron James claiming he could retire without farewell tour doesn't sit well with NBA fans

A few players have dominance ranges from a few years to a decade. However, LeBron James has even leapfrogged that fine line. Since the confident 18-year-old burst onto the scene to mark his legacy as one of the greats, LeBron’s journey has come a long way. Sure enough, the 39-year-old continues to play at a high level. Nevertheless, there is a slight hint that his reign may come to an end soon.

Being the oldest active player in the league, the Los Angeles Lakers have heavily relied on his experience. James remains a key catalyst who still has much to provide his team. But unlike any player ending fatherhood time, you would expect rumors of trades or, more so, even retirement. And in his latest, LeBron was rather on a 50/50 on how he should end his career.

This is what James said:

I haven’t mapped out how many seasons I have left, but I know it’s not many. I was asked this question a couple days ago: ‘Will you take the farewell tour, or will you just Tim Duncan it?’ I’m 50/50.

And by reference to Kobe Bryant and Tim Duncan, both players had what could be only described as an illustrious career. They won the most elusive trophies in the NBA. But how they ended their career brought a contrasting difference between the two. Kobe Bryant retired whilst playing for one of the worst Los Angeles Lakers teams in their franchise.

As for Duncan, he ended his career at the pinnacle of his career after winning the 2014 NBA title, marking the 5th ring of his career. While that is the 50/50 option LeBron was referring to, some fans on the internet weren’t really pleased with his words.
